road tripping part 2

28 Dec 2007

I'm back home in Sydney after the Christmas break. It's a 12 hour drive from Brisbane to Sydney along the New England Highway which I did in one journey. About halfway home I spied this old station managers cottage just outside Uralla. I took photos for about 20 minutes until the bush flies forced me back into the car.

Who knows what other gems are lurking in the small towns that dot the highway? One year I must take a few days to do the journey so I can make a photo essay of the region.

Not having any of my artwork on the walls I'm thinking of making a large canvas art print of one of the images but which one?

Daylight saving or the lack of it confuses the hell out of me so I've been waking really early. Here's todays' sunrise.

And another view,

Road Tripping

21 Dec 2007

Greetings from Noosa! I drove up to Brisbane from Sydney on Wednesday to spend Christmas with my family - a long and tiring 12 hour journey.

I managed to get sick the day before the drive up so I coughed, sneezed and spluttered the whole journey. Charming. I saw lots of great scenery along the way but it wasn't safe to stop and take any photos.

Today I drove about 2 hours north to Noosa where I met up with one of my old school friends and her husband. We had a lovely lunch at Seasons, a stroll down Hastings Street for some raspberry and lemon gelato and a stroll along the beach. I even found a wedding being set-up at one end of the beach.

I couldn't help myself and out came the camera to take some detail shots. I've attached a collage of my day trip to Noosa. I have a whole week of festivities planned up here then it will be back to Sydney for a month of hard gym work-outs.

If I don't get a chance to blog before Christmas Day, I hope you all have a great holiday season,

Bella and Ewan

17 Dec 2007

I've been taking photos of Bella and Ewan since they were both newborns. Ewan is now 6 and Bella is almost 2. Ewan likes to pose for photos which involves him standing upright with his arms folded across his chest whilst simultaneously grinning. I have chosen not to post any of those images. Bella is still too young to pose, thankfully. She made a glorious mess of herself feasting on cherries and strawberries before we headed over to the park for some playtime.

How much fun did Bella have eating those cherries? Wouldn't it be fun to be to be 2 all over again?

Thanks for the fun day,

Jillian

Studio Bride Magazine

8 Dec 2007

It's on the news stands!

I came home from the gym this morning to find a large box had been placed on my front door mat containing a copy of the magazine and a showcard.

The aforementioned cardboard box.

I want every-one to run out and buy a copy!

Bye for now,

Anniversary Shoot

3 Dec 2007

Wes and Cindy celebrated their first wedding anniversary in November and we took the opportunity to take some nice portraits. They were also acting as models so I could try out my new 50 mm f1.4 lens on real people rather than flowers.

It's a tricky beast and I'm still trying to get the hang of it.

Thanks to Wes and Cindy for being such good sports,

Jillian

I've been working on some lay-outs for prints on canvas. I've attached a few and I was hoping you'd help me choose one for printing.

studio bride

I've just been to the news agency and the new edition of studio bride is out.

I received a last minute call a few months back asking if I'd like to place a full page ad in the magazine. The only catch - I had 24 hours in which to design and place the ad. I did what I could with the time available and a p.c. that refused to work. I thought the ad might look a mess but I'm happy to report that it looks fine in glossy print.
